Lawyers continue strike on day 87
LAHORE: On the call of the Joint Action Committee, the city’s lawyers on Wednesday continued their hour-long boycott of courts and token hunger strike for the 87th consecutive day over the reference against the CJP. They wore black armbands and attended the hunger strike camp set up at Aiwan-e-Adal and two at the LHCBA compound. The protesting lawyers stood before the portrait of nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and chanted slogans against his house arrest for the 1,213th consecutive day. Abdul Rasheed Qureshi addressed the protesting lawyers and said that they would support the return of the former premiers Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto. He said that in case they were not allowed to return to the country, the people would make the conduction of the next general elections impossible. He also urged citizens to take part in the CJP’s address in Multan and make it a success. staff report
